If you want to chant Surya mantras yourself, you can choose from the following. The total count of mantra repetitions should be 6000, and you can complete it within a maximum of 11 days. Before starting, consult a pundit (priest) to learn the correct pronunciation and method of chanting (Sankalpa, etc.) for the best results.

• Puranokta Mantra:

  "Japaa Kusuma Sankaasam Kaasyapeyam Mahadyutim
  Tamo 'urim Sarva Paapaghnam Pranatosmi Divaakaram"

• Gayatri Mantra:

  "Aswadhwajaaya Vidhmahe Paasa Hasthaaya Dheemahi

• Bija Mantra:

  "Aum Hram Hrim Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah"

There are many other mantras as well. Vedic Surya mantras are best learned from a Guru. Mantra chanting is a temporary remedy that helps reduce the negative effects of planets for some time, like 3-4 years, depending on the Dosha.

To get rid of the inauspicious results of a planet, Yagya/Havan is a significant remedy. The materials used in Havan are beneficial, making the surroundings holy and pacifying the planet. Havan ingredients contain various roots and herbs, making the ashes beneficial and capable of alleviating certain diseases. Yagya includes Mantra chanting, Tarpan (pouring water), Havan, and Brahmin Bhojan (offering food to Brahmins).
